About Us -
Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? What are we doing? How did this all start? When will it end?

 Let's start with ...

Who are we? We are an expanding organization with a heart for the Deaf People. Our goal is "Community Awareness" - What it means to be Deaf for family and friends.

Where did we come from?  This all stemmed from a vision that is slowly being realized. The vision of helping people in an area with so little focus. The Deaf and Hearing Impaired and mostly their familie and friends. There is an on going need to help bridge the gap from no communication (or limited) to full communication. It is not uncommon for Deaf Children with hearing parents, that their parents never learned to sign. I want to help that.

Why are we here? To be an advocate. To be ''that voice" to create independence, allow the community around us to learn more about "the Deaf.... and to be a friend! If you need anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What are we doing?  This is a local area website focusing on Long Beach, CA and surrounding cities. Mostly Long Beach, CA. We are a website for now with the hope to be a full fledged facility in Long Beach to help meet the needs of the "Deaf" community and their families right here in Long Beach. This will take some time, planning, opportunity, financial support, and a whole lot more, however I see this as a reality at some point.

How did this all start? From a visioin. A thought of being that stem from the hearing world to the Deaf world and not only continuing to learn Deaf Culture, but, to bridge that gap between hearing and "Deaf" right here in Long Beach, CA!

When will it end? I pray never!

We are a family friendly environment and have many resources to assist you.

If you know of an activity or event and would like it announced here, please send an email.

We are working diligently to get a facility that will work for all aspects of this organization.

The Long Beach Area NEEDS an Exclusive Deaf Facility Advocacy Office.

Again, Thanks for stopping and taking a look.

A word from the CEO and Owner:

I appreciate that you would take the time to stop by the website and look around.

If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask!
I'll be happy to see if I can answer them.  If you have an idea for the site, just send an email and let me know. This is my personal email account.  Ilahb@aol.com

In His Grip,
Mrs. Ilah Hardesty
1 Peter 4:1, and 13
A note about Ilah

Ilah is a well received lady who has a big heart. She is fun, funny, outspoken most of the time and brazzin' other times.

Ilah does not come to this whole "Deaf Thing" with a string of certifications or degrees. Although she does have them (and not from the oven) she is NOT certified as an RID Interpreter.
 (but is working toward it)

She does hold to the tenents and code of conduct as presented by RID.

Ilah will interpret, not just for financial gain but as a help to others in need. That is number one.

There are many organizations one can contact to have a qualified certified RID Interpreter help them communicate.
The recommendation is anyone in need of an Interpreter to contact a proper organization. Most of the time it is a free service provided by California. Remember it is also the law that if you request an interepreter for your job, at the hospital, dr. office, etc., that company needs to supply it.

Thanks for stopping by!
