There is a nominal fee for these classes. Please email all inquiries at mydeafplace@aol.com

Students who wish to brush up on their ASL grammar, increase vocabulary, learn new signs and techniques, or just use their sign language in a more professional forum, you are all welcome. We can also go over any homework you may have.

THIS IS NOT AN INTERPRETER TRAINING PROGRAM
THIS IS NO ACCREDITED NOR FOR ANY TYPE OF COLLEGIATE CREDIT
THIS IS considered under "for entertainment purposes" only category.

Although we do advocate for full usage of American Sign Language
these classes are designed as novice, you will learn gestures, some culture and
simple information on sentence structure
(now that you know all these signs what do you do with them?)

If you wish to have private tutoring please let me know.

I will be happy to help you arrange that.**

This class is more like a tutoring class for anyone new to sign language or would just like to learn it.

If you follow the program and use the text suggested, you will be taught the following:

More than 1500 signs (if you are a current student or have some
fore-knowledge of sign language then some sign and gestures you may know already)

You will be taught the new signs for the different countries here in our world.
(There have been changes over the years)
Deaf Culture - You will be taught about Deaf Culture. Upon occasion you will meet those who are Deaf. Hopefully a lot of occasions. Knowing a little about their culture will be beneficial.

Tutoring is every Wednesday night starting at 6:00 until about 8:00 ish ....

Please refer to this site for any updates. This site will serve as your source for "between" class information. Including links to tests, etc. if needed.

If you come for the tutoring classes offered, you do so as means of
1. Entertainment
2. for your own personal information and
3. at your own risk.
With Sign Language one uses their body to create the gestures. As a result there are  muscles you may have not used before or in a long time such as in your wrists, fingers, arms, and sometimes body. My Deaf Place does not take any responsibility for any kind of physical problem developed while learning and using sign language. In other words, Sing Language can be physically challenging. Please, if you have any concerns or suffer from any kind of condition that might cause you physical harm, discuss with your doctor first.

Sign Language may not be for everyone (although some may disagree) but it IS for some.
I encourage you, try it out.

Your local junior or community college most likely will have a beginning sign language or American Sign Language class (ASL) should you wish to continue.

IF you are interested please contact ilah (eye-lah) at email ilahb@aol.com and subject line Sign Language Class and information will be emailed back to you with location address and any other information.
